14 DAYS Lima - Cusco - Puno - Huaraz

Day 01: Arrival to Lima - Peru

On arrival in Lima you will be met by your Peru Marvels Tour Controller , who will transfer you in private to your comfortable hotel. Your guide will be happy to answer any questions you may have at this point and recommend a good restaurant; the remainder of the evening is free to rest and take a gentle stroll around the surrounding area should you wish.

Day 02: Lima - Cusco Free day in Cuzco with walkabout tour

After breakfast you will be met by your guide for the transfer to the airport for your short one hour flight to Cuzco . On arrival our guide will meet you and transfer you to your hotel ideally situated in the city centre. After you have had chance to settle in your guide will return to take lunch and give one of his walkabout tours of the city; the rest of the day is then yours to spend as you wish; perhaps you could take this opportunity to write and post your postcards and simply while away the day in Cuzco's many cafes, bars and restaurants.

Day 03: Sacred Valley Tour

Today you start your relaxed tour of the Sacred Valley. On the way we will visit Sacsayhuaman, one of the best examples of Inca stonework. From here we will travel to a variety of sites including Qenko, Puca Pucara and Tambo Machay, before arriving at the small village of Pisac, a picturesque town, which is the gateway to the Sacred Valley, here you have an opportunity to viewing the many artisans work. You will then transfer to a beautiful country inn where you will have the evening free to relax and enjoy the fine facilities on offer.

Day 04: Train to Aguas Calientes

This morning you will be transferred to the small station of Ollantaytambo, at the end of the valley. From here you will take your beautiful train journey. The transparent viewing roof of the carriage allows spectacular and uninterrupted views of the surrounding mountains and changing microclimates as the ride takes you into the higher reaches of the Amazon, to the small yet lively town of Aguas Calientes. Here you will be transferred to your hotel and have the afternoon free to explore this small but lively town.

Day 05: Full day at Machu Picchu

This is an ideal opportunity to take the first transport up to the city of Machu Picchu where you will have the opportunity of seeing the spectacular sight of the ruined city appearing like magic through the early morning cloud. In order for you to maximise your enjoyment from your visit, Peru Marvels provides the services of a professional local guide who will reveal some of the mysteries that surround this fascinating place. After your visit we return for mid afternoon to the small village of Aguas Calientes where we will take the 4.35 afternoon return train to Cuzco . Upon arrival we transfer to your hotel and have the evening free to explore Cuzco by night, take in a fine restaurant and sample one of the many places of entertainment.

Day 06: Orient Express train to Puno

This morning you will be transferred to the main train station and take the incredible journey to Puno on the banks of the Great Lake Titicaca. This journey is one of the great train journeys of the world and takes approximately ten hours. The comfortable carriage of the Orient Express offers restaurant service and a carriage attendant providing beverages and light snacks during your relaxing and interesting journey. The train also has an excellent observation car at the rear offering clear and spectacular views. Upon your arrival in Puno you will be transferred to your hotel and have the evening free to relax and enjoy this lively, sociable city.

Day 07: Full day tour of Lake Titicaca to floating Islands

Your guide will greet you after breakfast (08.00) and transfer you to the small harbour on the edge of the Great Lake Titicaca. Setting sail your guide will explain to you the fascinating history of the lake with its legends and facts before arriving at one of the incredible floating reed islands of the Uros Indians. You will have time to wander on this most strange of surfaces to meet the people who live out on the lake, your guide will explain their way of life and the many surprising things to be learned from these people. Re-joining your boat we take the return sail back to Puno. On arrival into the harbour you will be transferred back to your hotel to take lunch with the afternoon with you guide to explore the markets and places of interest. Your evening is free to explore this busy town.

Day 08: Sillustani Ruins tour | Return to Lima

Your morning is free to relax before your transfer to the airport, situated in the small town of Juliaca approximately one hour's drive outside Puno. As part of your tour we will stop on route to the airport to show you the fantastic Sillustani Lake and the Inca and pre Inca ruins. Here, weather permitting; we stop for a picnic lunch at the site of the strange cylindrical Inca towers of Sillustani which has spectacular lakeside views. You will then continue on to the airport for the short flight to Lima, where you will be met and transferred to your Lima hotel. The rest of the day is free to spend at your own leisure.

Day 09: Lima - Huaraz

This morning you could to take our optional Lima city tour; your options can be discussed with your guide at the time and would be a local payment to guide. At the appropriate time your Peru Marvels Tour Controller will meet you and transfer you to the bus station (approx 21.00) to take your comfortable night bus to the city of Huaraz. The arrival time will be about 06.00 and upon arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel

Day 10: Free day Huaraz

After your long night's travelling and 06:00 arrival this morning today is a free day in order to rest in the comfort of your hotel, explore Huaraz at your own pace and take in the stunning mountain scenery which surrounds the town.

Day 11: Llanganuco | Huascaran National Park

This morning you need to be ready for about 09:00 to join your tour to the Llanganuco lakes (this is a shared group tour but accompanied with private guide). Getting into the National Park, we will reach the second lake (Orconcocha) from where we will see the beautiful snow-capped mountains Huascarán (the tallest in Peru) and Yanapaccha. We will then go back to the first lake (Chinancocha), which is often though of as the nicest, where you will be able to walk through Quenual woods and see various flowers that make this place a paradise. In the afternoon, we will visit the ancient Yungay (Campo Santo) where we will see the remains of the infamous 1970 avalanche. After the tour you will transfer back to your hotel where the remainder of the day is free at leisure.

Day 12: Chavin de Huantar

Today is your excursion to the comparatively little-known ceremonial centre of Chavín de Huantar. On the way to the ruins, we will visit the villages Recuay and Catac before reaching the Querococha Lake. Continuing on, we will go through the Cahuish tunnel to get into the Callejon de Conchucos eventually reaching Chavín de Huantar. There, we will visit the archaeological complex, the castle, the sacred temples, the labyrinths and the Chavin Goad (anthropomorphic figure) developed by this civilisation.

Day 13: Huaraz - Lima

After breakfast you will be transferred to the bus station to catch your (daytime) return bus to Lima. Arriving into the city our representative will be waiting for you in the bus terminal for your safe transfer back to your Lima hotel, where you have the opportunity to rest and recuperate after a long day's travelling. Should you wish, your guide will be happy to return in the evening to escort you to the area of Barranco where you can enjoy some of Lima's finest restaurants and cliff top coastal views, before returning you safely to your hotel ready for a good night's sleep.

Day 14: Depart Lima

This morning you will need to prepare for your departure before your international return flight. You may like to do some last minute shopping for gifts or mementoes of your time in Peru , or alternatively you could to take our optional Lima city tour; your options can be discussed with your guide at the time and would be a local payment to guide. At the appropriate time your Peru Marvels Tour Controller will meet you and transfer you to the airport for your international departure.
