Q. How will I know whom to look out for when I arrive in Lima?
A. Your Peru Marvels Representative will be ready and waiting at a clearly recognisable meeting point. He will also be holding a board with ‘Peru Marvels and your name(s) displayed clearly on it. At each place you arrive our expert guides will meet you in the same way. You will find our guides are wonderfully helpful and are there for you to ask for any further assistance you may need.


Q. When will I receive my contact details in Peru to leave at home in case of an emergency?
A. All clients receive their final, confirmed, contact details in the week prior to their departure.


Q. Is there a number I can ring in case I am not met upon my arrival in Lima?
A. We would like to assure you that we always have an alternative plan ready in place, in the highly unlikely event that your designated Peru Marvels Representative be unable to meet you however contact details for our Lima office will be given in case of an emergency (see above).


Q. I haven’t been able to obtain any Peruvian currency, will this pose any problems and is it best to take dollars?
A. The Peruvian currency of the Nuevo Sol is not currently floated on the International currency markets; this means that it is unavailable outside of Peru. However, it is a twin currency country where you can use US Dollars, which can be exchanged for local currency at any bank office or exchanges money house ( at the hotels you could get change) It is helpful to take some cash with you, but a MasterCard or Visa card is a convenient way in which to access your funds whilst in Peru. We suggest an initial amount of $100, broken down into smaller denominations, for example, $20 x 4, $10 x 1, and $1 x 10.


Q. How much should I budget per day for my expenses such as meals and personal spending?
A. We recommend that you have a budget of $15 to $25 per day whilst you are in Peru in order to cover meals and other costs.


Q. What kind of sun block and insect repellent do I need to take? Also, will I need a mosquito net in any of the places I will be visiting?

A. Due to the thin atmosphere and high altitude it is essential to take with you the highest factor sun cream you can purchase. The most important thing to remember, however is to re-apply it at regular intervals. We recommend that you purchase an insect repellent containing a high level of DEET prior to your departure, as we are yet to find an effective product on sale in Peru! As for mosquito nets, this is personal preference, however we generally do not find that it is necessary.
